Lost Lives: Youth Behind Bars, A Panel Discussion

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday October 3

3:00 PM  –  5:00 PM

The impact of incarceration on youth is one of the key issues addressed in several exhibitions at the MSU Broad Art Museum this fall. This panel discussion brings together practitioners and scholars related to the Campaign for Youth Justice, which facilitated a national effort to raise the age of adjudication to 18, nationally. While it was in operation, the Campaign contributed to and facilitated over 150 policy changes nationally. With guest speakers Caitlin Cavanagh, Francisco Villarruel, Marcy Mistreet, MK Kitzmiller, Casey Orr, Maddie Allen, Manuel Alvarado, and Rubén Martinez, the panel will identify common themes in letters written by systems-involved individuals seeking legal guidance during its existence. Registration for this free event is required.

This program is presented in partnership with the Julian Samora Research Institute, School of Criminal Justice, Human Development and Family Studies, and Youth Equity Project, Michigan State University.
