Think of a favorite picture of yours. What story does it tell? Join artist Pao Houa Her for a conversation on artistic practice and legacies of landscape, portraiture, and documentary photography. 

 

Born in Laos and raised in Minnesota, Her is a Hmong American artist whose first solo museum exhibition was held at the MSU Broad Art Museum in 2015. Her’s work is currently featured in the exhibition Mekong Voices: Transnational River Justice of Mainland Southeast Asia. 

 

 

On view Sep. 14, 2025–Feb. 22, 2026, Mekong Voices: Transnational River Justice in Mainland Southeast Asia was born out of the Mekong Culture WELL project, an interdisciplinary, collaborative, and multilingual initiative at Michigan State University that foregrounds cultural dimensions of water, ecologies, land, and livelihoods across Mainland Southeast Asia.
