From tree to daily routineexperience the journey of shea with the MSU Beal Botanical Garden and Hillary Coleman, owner of 1991 Greenery Homestead. Join us for a DIY Shea Butter workshop in conjunction with Esmaa Mohamoud’s exhibition COMPLEX DREAMS. Registration for this free event is encouraged.

This event is offered as part of the Deep-Rooted collaboration with the MSU Beal Botanical Garden, where art and plants intertwine in a conversation about the extraordinary ways our natural world has influenced art and human societies throughout history. On view from September 14, 2024–February 16, 2025, the inaugural Signature Commission Series exhibition COMPLEX DREAMS places the experiences of young Black girlhood center stage while forwarding a refreshing and resilient perspective on the power of Black women today.
